4,037. The Forms of Service for Which Non-Kohanim Are Liable

Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 9:2

While non-kohanim are warned not to perform any part of the sacrificial service, they are only liable to a Divine death penalty for performing the completing service, not a service that is followed by some other service. Thus a non-kohein is subject to death only for four forms of service: (1) sprinkling the blood; (2) setting fire to the offerings; (3) pouring the water libation on Succos, and (4) pouring a wine libation at any time.

Hilchos Bias HaMikdash 9:3

One is liable for sprinkling the blood as follows: if he sprinkled the blood inside or outside, whether one sprinkling of a sacrifice or one sprinkling for a metzora (a “leper”), he is subject to a Divine death penalty.
